The project, which will take 18 months to complete, will be carried out on Avenues San Lorenzo and España.
The City Council has awarded the works for a total of 17.3 million euros.
Estepona Town Council has taken another step towards the construction of the Bulevar Parque Central, a project that will be the culmination of the great urban transformation that the city has undergone over the last decade, and which will involve the creation of a large public space in the heart of the city.
The Consistory has already awarded the contract for the works, with a budget of 17,332,445.52 euros (including VAT) and a completion date of 18 months.
This new municipal project will be developed on Avenues San Lorenzo and España, in the axis between the new town hall, the promenade and the town center, envisaging its external redevelopment for the creation of another large pedestrian boulevard with leisure and commercial spaces, as well as the creation of an underground parking lot with a capacity of over 300 vehicles with the municipal parking network system at a cost of 1 euro per day to the user.
Innovaciones Técnicas y Recursos Constructivos, S.A. will be responsible for carrying out the work.
The company submitted the most advantageous economic offer, in addition to a two-month reduction in the execution period stipulated in the specifications (from 20 to 18 months).
The new Parque Central boulevard in Estepona is being developed in line with Spain’s Urban Agenda roadmap, with a triple objective of social, economic and environmental sustainability.
Charging zone for electric vehicles The new boulevard will feature unique elements such as squares, promenades, water features and parks, giving personality to the urban space and serving as a meeting point for citizens.
It will also include spaces reserved for cabs, loading and unloading areas compatible with businesses, and parking areas for motorcycles, electric vehicles and bicycles, with a clear commitment to improving mobility.
The aim of the project, according to the city council, is to turn the public space of the central San Lorenzo avenue, covering an area of around 22,000 square metres, into another “urban reference point for sustainability and quality tourism”.
This urban development model is “an international benchmark and has been recognized by institutions and social players for the benefits it brings to the future of societies”.
