Estepona Town Hall has awarded the project to build an extension to the Arroyo En Medio sports area to the company Football Impact S.L., which will pay for this initiative, which will have a concession for a period of 40 years and pay the Consistory an annual fee of 30,000 euros, as reported by the Town Hall on Wednesday.
Once completed, the sports complex will feature a total of 7 soccer pitches of various sizes.
Specifically, one 11-a-side soccer pitch with natural turf, one 7-a-side soccer pitch with natural turf and one artificial, and four 5-a-side soccer pitches with artificial turf.
The existing changing rooms and ancillary facilities such as the multi-purpose gym, storeroom and office/reception area will also be extended.
Similarly, the extension of the above-mentioned facilities at Arroyo Enmedio will include the creation of a 27,000 square metre green space, which will be structured by a pedestrian walkway that will cross two areas.
The first will be located to the north and will consist of a bio-health circuit, while the second will be more south-facing and will include a miniature car circuit.
In addition, the Town Hall will be able to use these facilities for the period set out in the contract, as well as hosting municipal events.
Similarly, with regard to rental of the 7-a-side soccer pitches, the successful bidder will apply the public prices stipulated by municipal regulations.
And for the 11-a-side natural grass soccer pitch, popular prices have been established for local fans and the general public.
What’s more, the implementation of new synthetic soccer pitches will make it possible to offer a greater number of playing hours than would be permitted on natural grass.
Local amateurs, associations and soccer schools, including summer camps and professional teams during winter training and pre-season, will be able to benefit from these facilities.
Other sports facilities The mayor of Estepona, José María García Urbano, praised the municipal effort that has been made over the last 12 years to provide the city with new sports facilities, with the implementation of projects such as the Fair, Sports and Permanent Leisure Park, which covers an area of seven hectares and brings together a total of 23 sports fields for year-round, free outdoor exercise.
He also highlighted the athletics stadium, approved for official competitions, where running, jumping and throwing activities can be practiced, and which includes a soccer pitch and two 7-a-side soccer pitches, enabling a wide variety of uses.
He also announced that work is continuing on projects to create new sports facilities, such as the climbing wall planned for the Parc des Expositions et des Sports, the indoor swimming pool and a velodrome with an indoor soccer pitch.
