Estepona City Council has launched a call for tenders for the construction and operation of a new underground public car park on Avenida de España, between Calle Delfín and the intersection with Avenida Juan Carlos I, in side of the promenade.
The car park will have an area of 6,600 square meters and 250 spaces for vehicles, including spaces with charging systems for electric vehicles distributed on a single floor.
The project includes the redevelopment of the exterior surface in line with the remodeling carried out on the seafront promenade. Thus, paving, supply and service networks will be renewed, as well as street furniture and gardens will be created, following the sustainable city model promoted over the last decade.
The company awarded the contract will build and operate the car park for a period of 40 years. After this period, the car park will be part of the municipal heritage.
Once the works have been awarded and the contract signed with the company, the works will last 18 months, although the part of the works which directly affects the promenade must be completed within four months of the signing of the review report in order to allow circulation pedestrians as soon as possible.
This new project is added to the municipal parking plan, launched by the Consistory with a network of public parking spaces, at the price of one euro per day, managed by the Association for the Mentally Disabled of Estepona (Aprona).
As part of this plan, 1,000 parking spaces were created under the new athletics stadium, more than a hundred spaces in the central Antonia Guerrero square and another hundred in San Lorenzo Avenue. A car park with half a thousand spaces is currently under construction in the Plaza del Ajedrez area, half of which will be owned.
