The City Council of Estepona (Malaga) has approved the tender for the concession of land for sports facilities in the eastern area of the suburbs, specifically, located in Calle Lima. Thanks to this action, a land of more than 8,000 square meters is enhanced, providing citizens with new facilities for sports and leisure.

The project includes a building for social and cultural use, which can house meeting rooms, classrooms, a gymnasium, restaurants, service areas and offices. In addition, a minimum of six racquetball courts and a parking area that can accommodate nearly fifty vehicles will be created.
The creation of this new space will also allow the creation of a new green area with public access and landscaped areas, where a park will be created along the banks of the Las Cañas stream, the Consistory said in a statement.
The City Council has already approved the specifications that will govern the tender for this concession, which will cover the use, construction and maintenance of these facilities. The concession will have a maximum duration of 50 years and establishes the payment of a fee for the City Council amounting to 26,594.30 euros per year.
This project, he added, “is in addition to others carried out in this area of the city to contribute to the improvement, development and equipment of the suburbs”.
Specifically, this new area is located next to the fluvial corridor, which runs parallel to the Las Cañas stream, and has managed to connect and structure this area with a pedestrian path that has enhanced all this environment. Thus, he managed to connect Lima Street to the coastal path, allowing access from there to the city center through this infrastructure that runs along the coast. In addition, the natural areas along the riverbed have been regenerated, creating green space and enhancing the banks of the watercourse.
At the same time, they recalled other actions that have recently been promoted in this area of the city such as the creation of a bridge and a pedestrian way that will connect the northern part of Cancelada to Bel-Air; the expansion of the Cancelada sports center and the creation of a public square in Bermeja street, among others.
