Estepona hosts the World Ham Competition, with 200 hams and over 60 exhibitors.
The event, which runs until August 15 on the town’s seafront promenade, also features free concerts by a variety of artists.
According to the town hall, this event has established itself as a meeting place for ham companies from all over Spain and professional cutters.
It is open daily from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m., and this eighth edition focuses on Malaga wines, as well as artisan breads and sweets.
In addition to the traditional ham and charcuterie stands, Bodegas Carpe Diem, members of the Sabor a Málaga brand and whose vineyards are located in the municipality of Mollina, will also be present to promote their variety of wines with the Málaga and Sierras de Málaga appellation of origin.
Artisan breads will be represented by Pan Piña, a bakery from Algatocín.
This edition is hosted by Canal Sur presenter Eva Ruiz.
All free concerts start at 11:30 pm, with Joana Jiménez and Nayeli on August 8, La Guardia on August 9, Compás Flamenco on August 10, Decai on August 11, Jesús de Manuel on August 12, José el Francés and Gloria Bendita on August 13, Son del Puerto on August 14 and El Maki and María Artés on August 15.
The event, organized by the Consistory in collaboration with ham cutter José María Téllez “Popi”, enjoys the institutional support of the Diputación de Málaga and the Junta de Andalucía, and this year has been declared a Festival of Tourist Interest in Andalusia.
