The Town Hall of Estepona (Malaga) has highlighted the economic activity taking place in the town and reported that, since 2022, a total of 336 new licenses have been registered for the opening of businesses in the municipality, processed by the Delegation of Commerce.

Through a press release, the city councillor responsible for this area, Cristina Cintrano, indicated that these data demonstrate the upward trend that occurred after the pandemic, as well as the city’s economic dynamism.
In this sense, she referred to the fact that municipal projects developed to add value to the city have succeeded in generating a strong economic fabric with opportunities.
Mr. Cintrano gave a positive assessment of these figures, highlighting not only the opening of new businesses, but also the consolidation of those already established in the city for some time.
“The figures show that every day and a half, a new establishment opens its doors in Estepona, which testifies to the increase in economic activity and the pole of attraction that the town has become in recent years,” he said.
Of the more than 300 licenses granted, 268 correspond to new businesses that have set up in the city, while 68 changes of establishment owners have been made.
In addition to processing new licenses, the trade and industry delegation is also responsible for other important aspects such as adapting establishments to local regulations.
Other procedures promoted by commerce in recent months have been the authorization of special events or the traditional summer market on the promenade, as well as the launch of the company in charge of personal mobility vehicles (scooters) distributed throughout the municipality.
The head of the municipality underlined the Consistory’s efforts to avoid bureaucratic obstacles that could delay the implementation of projects.
Among the measures adopted is the abolition of the opening tax for commercial activities considered harmless.
In addition, the cost of the business license is reduced by 75% for groups in a more vulnerable situation.
Women victims of gender-based violence, the long-term unemployed, young people under 30, people with a degree of disability equal to or greater than 33%, and people over 55 who have been unemployed for at least six months in the last two years are eligible for this tax measure.
To make it easier to start up a business, the town council has promoted the electronic office, from which all the procedures required to open a new establishment can be carried out, as well as managing appointments with the various municipal services.
In addition to these measures, the town council launches various campaigns every year to boost the local commercial network, through activities aimed at positioning businesses and building public loyalty.
