The completion of the work will be celebrated with a program of fun activities including free tastings, promotions in the stores, parades and shows by Los Piratas and Azúcar Moreno.
Estepona Town Hall is pleased to announce that the official inauguration of the complete redevelopment of Avenida de España, one of the most important municipal projects to open up the city to the sea, will take place on Friday, April 5.
Completion of the final phase of the works, between Calle Terraza and Avenida de Andalucía, has created a landscaped boulevard running parallel to the promenade, integrating it and making it one of the best coastal promenades in Spain.
For the inauguration, a full program of leisure activities has been planned, ranging from parades to free tastings and musical performances.
Specifically, events will kick off at 8 p.m. with the ribbon-cutting by the authorities, which will take place at the junction of Avenue d’Espagne and Avenue d’Andalousie.
The circus parade begins at 8:15 p.m., with a brass band, batucada, flamethrowers, jugglers, stilt-walkers, unicycles, clowns and trapeze artists.
A free chocolate churro tasting will be held in Plaza García Caparós from 8:30 pm.
From 9 p.m. to 10 p.m., happy hour will be activated with promotions in all establishments on Avenida de España, Plazoleta Ortiz and Plaza García Caparros, offering products at special prices.
Musical entertainment kicks off at 9 p.m. in Plaza García Caparrós, with a concert by Los Piratas.
An hour later, the duo Azúcar Moreno will close the events planned for the inauguration of the Avenida de España redevelopment.
The initiative to completely redevelop this central axis, designed to open up the “urban garden” of downtown Estepona to the Mediterranean Sea, places Estepona in the vanguard of sustainable cities committed to quality of life, citizen well-being, the environment and ample space for pedestrians.
Estepona thus combines its urban center and the heart of its economic and social activity with the tourist appeal of the sea, revitalizing this strategic enclave of the municipality.
In this way, the Avenida de España becomes a place of transition between the city and the sea, with a more pleasant, calm and safe space, open to pedestrians and where nature predominates.
It is also a concept of a modern city open to the sea, which has another fundamental axis in the city’s remodeled urban center.
Over the past decade, a network of more than 130 streets in this area has undergone comprehensive infrastructure renovation and beautification, creating a powerful focus for urban revitalization that has given rise to the municipal initiative “Estepona, City of the Sea”.
