The Public Port Agency of Andalusia, an entity attached to the regional government’s Department of Sustainability, Environment and Blue Economy, is studying the possibility of extending the administrative concession granted to Marina del Mediterráneo de Estepona S.L., which manages the Port of Estepona, and therefore sent a message of reassurance to mooring users and business owners on Thursday.
This was stressed by the Andalusian Port Agency after learning that next August, the administrative concession granted to Marina del Mediterráneo de Estepona S.L. will come to an end.
In this regard, the agency explained that “alternatives are being studied regarding the future management model of the port with the aim of guaranteeing the continuity of its activity within the established legal limits and the improvements that all facilities must make to adapt to the new demands of our users”.
The administrative concession granted to Marina del Mediterráneo de Estepona S.L. for the management and operation of the port’s commercial and nautical zone expires in August 2023.
This is the only deadline covered by the current title, and once it has been reached, all the rights held by the concessionaire over the aforementioned port area will come to an end.
For this reason, the Public Agency for the Ports of Andalusia is currently studying the company’s request for an extraordinary extension, as permitted by current legislation; although the competent administration has not yet taken a decision on the destination of the facilities once the concession has expired.
