Jerez’s zambomba “María José Santiago y Jerez cantan a la Navidad” will visit Estepona’s Auditorium Felipe VI next Friday, December 23, at 9pm, where the singer will present the Christmas show, as announced this Friday by the town hall.
María José Santiago y Jerez cantan a la Navidad” is a show for all audiences, designed so that children as well as their parents and grandparents can experience an intimate and festive night of flamenco, in which the important values of family and neighborliness, respect for the elderly and the warmth and affection that every human being needs to receive from their environment are exalted.
The show is predominantly flamenco in its aesthetic and content, although it does have a folk support specific to the event it depicts, the Zambomba de Jerez.
Based on the traditional folk repertoire, the reinterpretation, given the nature of the performers, is flamenco.
The idea is to show not only the preservation of Jerez’s popular heritage around the Christmas festivities, but also the continuity of this cultural event over time.
