Nayeli Ruiz will switch on Estepona’s Christmas lights this Friday, December 2.
The young La Voz Kids contestant will inaugurate the artistic lighting with over 2,000 LED lights, which includes new areas such as Plaza del Ajedrez and the pedestrian section of Avenida de España.
Estepona Town Hall will switch on the Christmas lights this Friday, December 2.
This year, over a hundred new light points and illuminated zones have been added.
More than 2,100 elements make up this year’s artistic lighting, which this year will reach recently remodeled areas such as Plaza del Ajedrez and the pedestrian section of Avenida de España.
Estepona’s young artist, Nayeli Ruiz, who amazed locals and visitors alike at the last edition of La Voz Kids, will be the star of the Christmas welcome event, with the lights switched on at 7 p.m. on the remodeled section of Avenida España, which will include performances by the pastoral groups of Hermandad Jesús Cautivo and Nostalgia Navideña.
This year, the lighting in the gardens of the Parque Botánico-Orquidario, which will host a Christmas market, will be enhanced, as will the remodelled section of the promenade.
In addition, a new large Christmas tree will be installed by the Operational Brigade.
Estepona will have two 14-metre Christmas trees in the gardens of the Parque Botánico-Orquidario and in the pedestrian section of Avenida de España.
The other two, 12 and 10 metres high respectively, will be installed in the Plaza Antonia Guerrero and the new Plaza del Ajedrez.
In addition, a total of 114 arcs of 7- and 5-meter-long lights, 333 ornamental motifs, 143 12-meter-long ropes and 140 curtains and nets will be spread throughout the city to illuminate the municipality’s main tree-lined avenues, as well as other areas.
There will also be 10 “Merry Christmas” signs and 11 almond-shaped trees with lights over 4 meters high located on traffic circles.
In addition, a total of 85 LED light patterns will be installed in the streets of the old town that have been remodeled as part of the Estepona, Jardin de la Costa del Sol project, and 60 LED curtains will be installed on the palm trees on the seafront promenade.
In recent years, the Consistory has acquired up to a thousand Christmas elements (curtains, nets, motifs and trees), thus avoiding cost overruns in the rental, assembly and subcontracting of these lights.
All the lighting uses LED technology, resulting in significant energy savings and demonstrating the Council’s commitment to sustainability and environmental protection.
