Estepona Town Hall is pleased to announce that the underground parking lot in the vicinity of the Plaza del Ajedrez will be operational on the morning of November 14th.
This new public facility has a total of 500 parking spaces, half of which will be on a rotational basis and the remainder owned by people registered in the city.
This is the fifth parking lot in the municipal network, costing the user 1 euro a day, which also performs valuable social work, since these facilities are managed by a social entity that promotes the integration of disabled people.
This network of parking lots now has a total of over 1,350 spaces located in the central plaza Antonia Guerrero, Avenida San Lorenzo, the new town hall and the athletics stadium.
The project included the external urbanization of the parking lot’s upper plaza, with the creation of various landscaped areas and leisure spaces for the public.
The neighbouring Mallorca, Menorca and Francisco Gutiérrez streets were also completely remodelled.
Specifically, the surface of the plaza and the above-mentioned adjacent streets have been re-paved and embellished, as have the sewage network, with a new wastewater and stormwater collector, the replacement of deteriorated elements of the water supply network, a new street lighting network, the repair and replacement of electrical services and the improvement of telecommunications infrastructures.
Municipal parking scheme The city council continues to complete the sustainable city model with this pioneering municipal parking scheme, which costs users 1 euro per day.
A call for tenders is currently being issued for the design of what will be the sixth parking lot in this network, to be located in the El Carmen church area.
It will have a capacity of some 330 vehicles, half of which will be rotational and the rest owned.
This facility will be joined by three others, currently under study, to be located in the San Fernando area, in Plaça ABC and in the José Ramón de la Morena complex.
