The Mayor of Estepona, José María García Urbano, and the President of the Association of Municipalities of the Western Costa del Sol, José Antonio Mena, announced today that the city will receive, through the Joint Investment Plans , 1,070,452 million euros for the implementation of two new sections of coastal corridor.
The councilor highlighted the valuable collaboration between public administrations to make investments in municipalities and pointed out that one of the strategic projects for Estepona is the completion of the coastal corridor that connects the entire coast.
Mr. García Urbano pointed out that with this investment by the Association of Municipalities of the Western Costa del Sol, two new sections will be built, specifically in Arroyo Enmedio and in the Guadalobón area, which means an additional kilometer of coastal corridor .
In this regard, the mayor said that this project already has about twenty kilometers of coastline connected by pedestrian paths.
On the other hand, the President of the Mancomunidad, José Antonio Mena, explained that “the municipalities have undergone great changes and have been seriously affected by the pandemic, so it is necessary to provide them with the greatest possible support to revitalize a social, economic and tourist environment which has been considerably weakened”.
In this way, he added that “to continue the investment effort initiated in previous years through the implementation of numerous projects, which, while being sustainable, have had a direct impact on economic development and improving the quality of life of its inhabitants, we are going to implement a new edition of the Investment Plan for the year 2022”.
The investments, which will be determined by each municipality according to its needs, must be adapted to areas such as the integral urban water cycle, urban solid waste management, urban planning, beaches, urban environment, environmental prevention and reforestation in public forests, tourism and the purchase of vehicles or machinery for municipal public services.
