The Nao Victoria arrived in Estepona yesterday, a stopover on the tour that this historic ship is carrying out in various ports in Spain on the occasion of the 5th centenary of the first race around the world, during which it has already visited more than 26 cities. It will be moored in the Marina and can be visited by the public from November 17 to 21.
The Nao Victoria is a replica of the ship which, five centuries ago, at the controls of which were Magellan and Elcano, was the protagonist of the greatest maritime adventure of all time. A ship that sails today as an ambassador of the V Centenary of the First Round the World Race (2019-2022), within the framework of the program of activities that the Nao Victoria Foundation carries out with the collaboration of the City Council of Seville and in the framework of the National Commission for this commemoration.
The ship is a true masterpiece of our country’s coastal carpentry, combined with a meticulous historical rigor in which all the details of the original have been respected, and which since its construction has already carried out immense trips around the world. During the years 2004/2006, he completed his own circumnavigation of the globe, covering more than 26,000 nautical miles and stopping in 17 countries. Since then, she has been constantly sailing around the world, making major cultural tours to hundreds of ports in the United States and Europe, receiving hundreds of thousands of visitors along the way.
