The maritime devotion of the Virgen del Carmen marks another year in July in the province of Malaga with thirty processions scattered especially on the coastal towns. Until the next day 26 will take place the departures of the Virgin who is considered the patroness of sailors.
Most of them are concentrated on Tuesday 16, the feast of the Virgen del Carmen, which in some municipalities where it is particularly rooted is a day off. Below is a guide to not missing these popular processions held annually by land and sea.
The flower offerings to the Virgen del Carmen Coronada will take place this Monday at 7:00 p.m. After her, there will be the Mass presided by the priest José Carlos Huete and the graduation ceremony for the brothers who have been in the Fraternity for 25 years (at 8:00 p.m.).
On Tuesday, July 16, it will begin with the concelebrated Eucharistic celebration – at 10 a.m. – and thereafter with bouquets of flowers for all who wish to pay their respects. In the afternoon, at 7:30 p.m., the sea-land procession will take place. this will leave the parish of Our Lady of Carmen.
On Wednesday July 17 and Thursday July 18 (at 9:00 p.m.), the recitation of the Holy Rosary will take place at Ermita de Ntra Sra Del Carmen. And, to finalize these acts, on Friday, July 19 at 8 p.m., the campaign mass will be celebrated in Plaza Virgen del Carmen. After that will proceed to move the Virgin to the parish.
In short, the departure of the procession will take place this Tuesday, July 16 at 7:30 p.m. at the Virgen del Carmen church, at the level of the fishermen’s quarter next to the port of Estepona. The procession will follow the paseo maritimo, and the Virgin will be launched between the chirringuito Bahía Beach and the cocktail bar Le Lio around 9:30 p.m.
