Work on the complete remodeling of the two kilometers of promenade that run alongEstepona ‘s downtown area is nearing the halfway mark, an action that is at 40 of its execution and has a budget of 761,604 euros, as reported on Tuesday by the deputy mayor of the Development area, Ana Velasco.
The municipal official detailed that this section lies between the La Cala areas, opposite the San José school, and the Jacaranda building, which connects with the Punta de la Plata coastal corridor.
Mr. Velasco pointed out that 40% of the work has now been completed.
Demolition work and treatment of affected services have been completed, and excavation of new lighting and electricity networks is currently underway.
Installation of the flooring will begin shortly.
The work, which is being carried out by the company Grulop 21 S.L., has a budget of 761,604 euros (including VAT), which will be entirely covered by the Malaga Provincial Council.
The project is a continuation of the previous section, but with the adaptation and installation of new infrastructure to meet the needs of the area.
As a result, almost half a kilometer of the promenade will be completely remodeled.
In addition to the actions that have been carried out, work has begun on the construction of walls to widen the pedestrian path in the area of the Avenida de España traffic circle, and the current lights will be replaced with LED lights, which are more environmentally friendly and will save energy.
In addition, the promenade will be demarcated from the beach area, gardening work will be carried out to improve the surroundings and new street furniture, such as benches, fountains and litter garbage cans, will be installed.
Ana Velasco also pointed out that the second phase of Avenida de España is currently being redeveloped, which also includes the remodelling of the stretch of promenade between Avenida Juan Carlos I and Calle Delfín.
Similarly, work on the “Mirador del Carmen” socio-cultural facility, currently under construction next to the Punta Doncella lighthouse, will also involve the redesign of the existing promenade in this area.
The Consistory has already completed the remodelling of the first section of the promenade, specifically that between Avenida Juan Carlos I and Avenida Andalucía.
The City Council’s aim is to continue remodelling the remaining sections until the coastal strip is connected by means of the coastal corridor, which is the backbone of the entire municipality.
