Estepona has a new stretch of the coastal path that crosses the area of La Morocha, being the longest of its coast with almost a kilometer long, so the town has already connected 85% of the coast through of this infrastructure, as announced this Friday by the President of the Diputación de Málaga, Francisco Salado.
This was emphasized by the provincial representative during the inauguration of the new section, where he was accompanied by the Mayor of Estepona, José María García Urbano, the Minister of the Presidency, Public Administration and Interior of the Andalusian government, Elías Bendodo, and the president of the Community of Municipalities of the Western Costa del Sol, José Antonio Mena.
Mr. Salado celebrated the launch of this new connection, which is part of one of the most ambitious projects of the Diputación de Málaga, and therefore congratulated Estepona “for the interest that José María takes in it”, which allows permissions to “arrive quickly”.
This new section, known as La Morocha, which connects the Kempinski hotel to the Dominion Beach urbanization, is made up of a 417-meter stamped concrete walkway, two wooden walkways (one of 125 meters and the other 326 meters) and two bridges, one 20 meters long to cross the Judio stream and the other 32 meters long to cross the Castor river.
It also has landscaped areas, new lighting and street furniture. Thanks to the construction of this section, citizens will be able to travel 10 kilometers without interruption along the coast of Estepona, more precisely from the city center to the Guadalmansa River.
The President of the City Council indicated that Estepona will allocate part of the funds of the “Malaga Plan” to the completion of the coastal path in the municipality, and therefore he once again thanked the Consistory for its “effort” in this area.
In this sense, he called on all elected officials, especially those on the eastern Costa del Sol, to give a boost to this infrastructure, whose evolution is slower. To this end, he said, “The county council has a lot of economic resources waiting for the implementation, and I hope it can be completed as soon as possible.
Finally, Mrs. Salado recalled that the investment of the Provincial Council of Malaga in the Estepona Coastal Path since its inception amounts to 2.8 million euros and aims to close the year 2020 with an amount of 3, 5.
For his part, Garcia Urbano highlighted the progress of the implementation of this project, intended to unite the 22.5 kilometers of the coast of Estepona through pedestrian paths. The mayor clarified that currently 85% of this infrastructure has already been completed, which means the existence of 19 kilometers.
The section inaugurated today represents an investment of 976,760.60 euros, of which the works were paid 80% by the City Council and 20% by the Association.
The Council authorizes a new road in Guadalmansa
The town hall of Estepona has already received authorization from the Andalusian government to start a new section of the coastal path in the area of Guadalmansa, according to the mayor, José María García Urbano.
In addition, the path has recently been completed in front of the new IKOS hotel in the Guadalmansa area, which corresponds to the urbanization of this area.
The city councilor also indicated that the city council is promoting other sections to the west, notably in Arroyo Enmedio, where a small bridge will be installed, and in the area of Arroyo Vaquero, where another is planned.
