Estepona: the cultural capital of the summer
Estepona never slows down in summer. The town strings together exhibitions, free concerts, open-air cinema and major family-friendly events. Here is what awaits you this week.
Flamenco and music
The week opens in style with the Festival Flamenco at the Plaza de Toros d’Estepona, where Alba Moreno and Canelita, two leading figures of today’s cante, perform in one of the summer’s most spectacular settings (Sunday, July 26, to kick off the week).
That same weekend, the Banda Municipale d’Estepona launches its summer concert series « Música a las Noches del Verano » with a free open-air concert on the Plaza del Reloj. A great opportunity to discover the historic centre in the evening.
For tablao lovers, the show « Flamenco Mi Caseta » offers live flamenco sessions at the Recinto Ferial d’Estepona, with the option to have dinner on site. One session is scheduled in particular on Friday, July 31.
Open-air cinema and culture
Throughout July, the Cinéma d’Été lights up the city’s parks with free screenings at 10:00 PM at the Orquidario, Parque de la Juventud and Parque de los Niños. An ideal, budget-friendly outing for families.
On the exhibition side, two dates not to be missed at the Centre Culturel Mirador del Carmen: the private collection « Maestros de la Luz y la Forma » — 47 paintings and 13 sculptures, on display until August 14.
Family-friendly and outdoors
Strategy lovers will enjoy « Ajedrez para Todos »: giant chessboards set up on the Paseo Marítimo, free to access from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM, until August 23.
Younger visitors will be delighted by DINOEXPO XXL, the large life-size dinosaur exhibition at the Palacio de Congresos (10:00 AM to 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM; €12 adults, €10 children).
Finally, the 31st Summer Book Fair sets up its second-hand booksellers’ stalls along the Paseo Marítimo — nearly two months of reading with the sea as your backdrop.
The weekend: heading into August
On Saturday, August 1, Parque El Ángel hosts « La Movida Flamenca », a night of open-air flamenco as part of the city’s summer cultural programme. That same weekend, the Cancelada neighbourhood celebrates its local festivities, with activities, concerts and entertainment for all ages.

Marbella: Starlite and the big nights out
In Marbella, summer rhymes with Starlite Occident. For its 15th edition, Europe’s most prestigious boutique festival transforms the Cantera de Nagüeles — a natural amphitheatre with 60-metre rock walls — into a magical stage every night. Doors open at 8:00 PM (gastronomic offering at the Starlite Lounge), concerts start at 10:00 PM, and the Starlite Night Club, the only nightclub in the world set inside a quarry, closes around 6:00 AM.

- Monday, July 27 — Ara Malikian, the virtuoso violinist and his flamboyant universe.
- Tuesday, July 28 — Zucchero: Italian soul and passionate blues under the Marbella sky.
- Wednesday, July 29 — Beret, one of the most popular pop voices of Spain’s new generation.
- Thursday, July 30 — Manuel Turizo in the auditorium, while Mau y Ricky set the Starlite Club alight.
- Friday, July 31 — Rosana, the Canarian singer and her timeless hits.
- Saturday, August 1 — Rosario (Rosario Flores), pure energy and a guaranteed party.

Traditions and culture
Beyond the big concerts, Marbella retains its authentic Mediterranean soul. The historic centre (Casco Antiguo), the Milla de Oro and Puerto Banús offer lively terraces, art galleries and free street performances every evening. Alongside Estepona, Marbella is one of the most sought-after destinations for investing in or settling on the Costa del Sol. Its blend of international glamour and Andalusian charm makes it a unique place to live all year round.
Manilva: between sea, vineyards and traditions
More intimate and authentic, Manilva and its seaside district of San Luis de Sabinillas embody the unspoilt Costa del Sol. Known for its vineyards (the famous Manilva muscat grapes) and its peaceful seafront, the municipality enjoys a summer paced by neighbourhood festivals and seafaring traditions.
This week, from July 27 to August 2, sits between two major highlights in Manilva’s calendar: the Marché Médiéval de Sabinillas (held from July 15 to 20 on the Paseo Marítimo) and the famous Festival de la Pleine Lune — Full Moon Festival — expected on August 28, when Sabinillas beach dresses in white.
So it is the ideal time to enjoy Manilva at its most tranquil: swims on less crowded beaches, tasting vino de Manilva in local bodegas, and long evenings on the Sabinillas Paseo Marítimo. For natural history lovers, the Baños de la Hedionda — sulphur Roman baths on the border with Casares — can be visited free of charge by reservation.

Casares: the white village and its summer calendar
Perched on its rocky outcrop, Casares is one of Andalusia’s most beautiful white villages. Birthplace of Blas Infante, “father of the Andalusian homeland”, it combines millennia of heritage, unspoilt nature and a high-quality summer programme, spread between the historic village, Secadero and Casares Costa.
Routes with History
This week’s flagship event is a must for anyone who wants to discover the village differently: the « Rutas con Historia » (Routes with History) take place every Wednesday in July, August and September. On Wednesday, July 29, let yourself be guided through Casares’ history-filled lanes, between the Arab castle, the church and breathtaking views.

If your stay continues, note Casares’ major August events: the Noche de Luna y Sal in Casares Costa (August 14), near the Torre de la Sal — candlelit paths and string quartets facing the sea; the August Fair in the village (August 6 to 9), where people dance until dawn in the medieval streets; and the Festival Flamenco Vivo Rosa Fina (August 22 and 23), featuring Daniel Casares, Rafaela Carrasco and Al-Blanco, among others.
Casares is attracting more and more international buyers looking for authenticity and tranquillity, while remaining just a few minutes from the coast and Estepona’s amenities.
