IBI and waste bills have been reduced by 20% since 2012. Added to this is a reduction of 3% – both for the IBI, the IAE and for the garbage tax – for those who pay their bills by direct debit.
The town hall of Estepona indicates that this year more than 4.6 million euros have been allocated in subsidies to subsidize the property tax (IBI) and exempt the most vulnerable groups from paying the garbage tax. Specifically, 4,461,684.79 euros were allocated to IBI discounts and 192,567.10 euros to the garbage tax.
This is one of the benefits that the town hall offers to people registered in the city’s census, so the town hall applies this assistance automatically without the people registered in the census having to apply for it. Regarding the garbage tax, pensioners and long-term unemployed persons registered in the city are exempted from payment, which benefited some 1,716 revenues.
With these measures, the Town Hall continues to show its fiscal support to families in Estepona, and in particular to the most vulnerable groups, maintaining its commitment not to increase citizens’ taxes and to offer aid to those who need it. most needed.
It should be remembered that the IBI tax bill has been reduced by 20% for all citizens since 2012. In addition, the city council is considering a reduction of 3% – both for the IBI and for the tax on economic activities (IAE) and the tax on household waste – for those who have paid their tax bill by direct debit and who do so within the voluntary payment period. For 2022, the IBI bill maintains this cumulative reduction.
Likewise, this reduction in the IBI is also favored by the 50% reduction in the cadastral values of real estate which was carried out in 2016 to bring them into line with the realities of the market.
The deputy mayor in charge of economic affairs, innovation and human resources, José María Ayala, indicated that these tax reduction measures are possible thanks to the fact that the city council has put some order in the accounts municipalities and maintains a policy of rigor and expenditure control, being – in addition – one of the municipalities in Spain that makes more public investment per inhabitant to stimulate the local economy.
