The new infrastructure, with a budget of 234,866 euros, will be 350 meters long. The city already has more than 90% of its coastline (more than 19 kilometers) connected by these paths.
The town hall of Estepona has launched a call for tenders for the construction works of a new stretch of the coastal corridor in the area of Dominion Beach. The new path, whose tender budget amounts to 234,866 euros, will improve the connection with other sections already completed, as explained by the deputy mayor in charge of development, infrastructure and Tourism (FIT), Ana Velasco.
The project will consist of the construction of a 350 meter long paved pedestrian path that will connect the pedestrian paths located on either side of the project. The footbridge will be 3 meters wide and will be coated with stamped concrete. Light beacons will be placed along the path and the basement will include the conduction of the irrigation system and electrical conduits for lighting connected to the existing networks in the surroundings. The maximum period for carrying out the work is three months from the signing of the contract.
In addition to this new section, the town hall of Estepona has recently obtained authorization to build another pedestrian path in the western part of the city, in particular to connect the section built on the Guadalobón stream to the Arena Beach project.
On the other hand, the Junta de Andalucía has authorized the town hall of Estepona to build another section in the area of Villacana. This action will allow the construction of a section of 385 meters that will connect the urbanization of Villacana to the section already completed in Arroyo Taraje. Another section of 559 meters will connect Las Dunas Matas Verdes to the sectors of Punta de Baños and El Saladillo.
The deputy mayor of the FIT area pointed out that the coastal path project in Estepona is already well advanced and is over 90% complete, which means that there are more than 19 kilometers of coastline connected by these paths pedestrians. She also highlighted the value of this sustainable urban development project that connects the coastline, preserving this space and providing a new attraction to the city.
She also recalled that in the past two years, four new sections have been inaugurated: the one connecting the Laguna Village shopping center to Dominion beach (870 meters long); a second section of 145 meters located in Riviera Andaluza; a third in front of the new IKOS Andalucía hotel; and the fourth linking this hotel facility to the Park Beach urbanization, which has a bridge of more than 60 meters over the Guadalmansa River.
