Next Sunday, September 26, Estepona will host the Andalusian final of the “No home without food” ham carving contest, sponsored by Sabor a Málaga and the Provincial Council of Malaga, with the collaboration of the local city council.
The organizer of the event, José María Téllez “Popi”, explained that this competition will bring together the best ham cutters in Andalusia. In total, eight participants representing each of the Andalusian provinces will compete in this final which will take place from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. outside the Felipe VI Auditorium.
As last year, and due to the health situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the measures approved by the authorities will be followed according to the level of alert of the municipality. As capacity is limited, anyone wishing to attend must request an invitation by contacting the organizers on 629 198 145.
Solidarity
José María Téllez “Popi” said that, in the same line as the previous edition, the competition will have a charitable character. The goal is to collect food (non-perishable) and donate it to food banks.
For this purpose, those present will have to bring non-perishable foodstuffs and, in exchange, they will be able to enjoy a free tasting of the best hams in Spain.
For their part, the competitors will have to demonstrate their skill in slicing ham, while the jury will evaluate, among other things, the style of the slicer, the dressing and the ability of the participants to slice 100-gram portions by eye.
